Diwali is on 14th November. The Corona time bomb is ticking in India. And unless the government steps in fast to defuse it the month of December could see a terrible Corona spike in the nation. Violations will only lead to more infections and the celebrations could turn into mourning for those who attend such functions.
Corona Impact on Festival Season
The festivities and Diwali shopping are on but the police have to maintain vigil in all markets to ensure that social distancing remains and is followed. People do not let down their guard while shopping in malls and showrooms but the same people let down their guard when it comes to chat and dosa stalls and the same need to be removed from markets till Diwali.
No Traffic Congestion and Barricading of Certain Routes
The government also needs to ensure that there is no traffic congestion and barricading of certain routes and parking spots must be undertaken to ensure social distancing during the shopping hours.
Regulate Shopping Hours to Stagger the Rush
The government also needs to regulate shopping hours to stagger the rush to the markets in the late evening so that the footfall is dispersed during the entire day and there is no crowding in the evening.
Season of Weddings in the Country
Apart from the Diwali seasons there is the season of weddings in the country. It is estimated that certain cities like Lucknow and Delhi could see thousands of weddings taking place on just one day that is November 25. The government and media sources estimate that there could be a frightful spike in corona infections after December 10 and the month of December could see major cases of community transmission in most of India’s urban centres.
