Measles
is one of the most infectious diseases in children. It is caused by a virus
known as Paramyxovirus. This virus is so infectious that it infects 90 per cent
of the children who come in contact with a measles
patient. It peaks during the onset of winters — December and January months
witness maximum cases. Before the immunisation
of measles was included in the immunisation schedule, 100 per cent of
children suffered from this disease. With the live attenuated vaccine being
included in the national immunisation schedule, measles has been completely controlled. In older children and
adults, who are not immunised during childhood, measles may catch you with life threatening complications.Read more
